Introduction
I'm Phillip Blevins. A proud husband, father, military officer, and native of Smyth County. I'm running for the elected prosecutor position because I am passionate about the safety of our families and law enforcement officers.
In January 2017, I was called to serve in the United States Air Force JAG Corps. For nearly six years, I prosecuted crimes and eventually defended accused service members in military court-martials across the United States. My service as a defense lawyer has instilled in me a deeper understanding of our criminal justice system. In fact, it has forged me into a stronger and more compassionate prosecutor.
As an Afghanistan combat veteran and current officer in the Air National Guard, I know that true leadership comes from a sense of duty - an obligation to protect and work for the benefit of others. I have rooted my career in servant leadership. I am proud to have served our community as an Emergency Medical Technician, firefighter, and as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney. I remain active with the Adwolfe Volunteer Fire Department, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
My wife, Dr. Katie Jo Blevins, and I are excited to be raising our two boys, Noah and Luke, in our hometown. Katie Jo teaches second grade at Chilhowie Elementary School and is an online professor for Liberty University. I'm calling on you to help me keep Smyth County a safe place to live and raise our families.
Lets get started making that dream a reality!
